The Fourth Season of ERG-45 Gets Rolling on Vancouver Island
Everyone Rides Grades 4 and 5 is off to a great start in 2022! Last week, we ran our first course at Cloverdale Elementary, followed by a program this week at Oaklands, where we were pleased to be joined by MLA & Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, Rob Fleming. The BC Ministry of Transportation funds HUB Cyclingโs Everyone Rides Grades 4 and 5 program which is currently delivered in Metro Vancouver, Kelowna, the West Kootenays, and here in and around the Capital Region. Over 6,000 students at 60 elementary schools will learn bike skills and safety through the program between now and the end of June, adding to over 9,000 who have taken part in the program since fall 2020.
The long-term goal of ERG-45 is to provide cycling education to all elementary school students in BC. Capital Bike and our partners at HUB Cycling, who run the program provincewide, know the importance of universal cycling education for youth to improve health & wellbeing, promote active transportation, and reduce carbon emissions. Through these courses we hope to create a culture of cycling in each school that reaches students as well as parents and teachers. Capital Bike is proud to be a part of this fantastic program!
