Family Cycling Program

All Aboard Family Cycling Program

A free, multi-faceted program for families that want to learn how to ride together, hosted by Capital Bike.

What:

Through a series of free workshops and skills courses, parents will gain the knowledge and skills to safely incorporate cycling into their family life whether riding for fun, to school, daycare, wherever! Modules include informational workshops with props, cycling skills courses for different ages (adults, kids, and youth) and a guided family ride.

Who:

For parents and their children looking to incorporate cycling into their lives.

How:

There are two great ways to participate in All Aboard!

  1. Sign up for individual workshops- You can take as many of the free workshops offered as part of the All-Aboard as you like! See available workshops, including Cycling with Kids and Cycling While Pregnant, at the button below. Stay tuned for more events including a Bike Petting Zoo!
  2. Take the whole program- we have space for up to 5 families (both parents and kids) to participate in the All-Aboard program in its entirety. Families can attend workshops and get free spots in bike skills courses for adults, youth, and kids. The program will finish with a fun guided road ride in partnership with the City of Victoria where you can put what you learned into practice. Express your families interest while we have spots available via email below.

Downloadable Info-sheets

Chocked full of great tips and resources, these info-sheets are complied from local knowledge and expertise from our All Aboard Family Cycling Group. Easy-to-read and super shareable, these are free resources that would be great for any parent group, community organization, library, support group, and more!

Family Cycling Resources

Focusing on three topics, Cycling While Pregnant, Cycling With Kids (On Your Bike) and Cycling With Kids (On Their Bikes), the All-Aboard Program invites those curious about family cycling to watch a short video made by local family cyclists with Quadratic Sound about their experiences riding with their kids (still to come); Facebook Live Q&A sessions, and download a one-page “Cheat Sheet” with tips and recommended routes!
